As Susan Breen’s compelling cozy mystery series continues, Maggie Dove’s budding detective agency has given her a new lease on life. Only one thing stands in the way of success her clients—or lack of them.
After catching the killer who shook her small Hudson River town, former Sunday School teacher Maggie Dove stumbled onto an exciting new career and found a way to take her mind off her own tragic past. Now, despite her best efforts to promote the agency, Maggie can’t seem to land any new cases—until Racine Stern, one of the village’s wealthiest residents, offers her a thousand dollars to convince her “evil” sister, Domino, to stay out of town.
While Maggie’s business partner thinks she’s crazy for turning down a potential client, she doesn’t want her agency to get a reputation for accommodating bizarre requests. However, Maggie is soon caught up in the family drama anyway. Racine may fear for her life—and her inheritance—but it’s Domino who takes the fall when she plunges to her death from a tower at Stern Manor. Was it an accident or something more sinister? Maggie’s investigation will test her faith—and her ability to survive.
Praise for Maggie Dove's Detective Agency

Susan Breen is a unique treasure—and Maggie is, too.”—Hank Phillippi Ryan, Mary Higgins Clark award-winning author of Say No More
“Maggie Dove’s Detective Agency is a delightful mix of mystery, heart-felt drama, and crazy antics. Maggie uses her skills as both a Sunday school teacher and PI to solve the case—a quirky combination from author [Susan] Breen that works perfectly!”—Marty Wingate, author of The Rhyme of the Magpie
“I love stories where I feel like I’m part of the action and [Maggie Dove’s Detective Agency], the second book in the [Maggie Dove] series, did just that. The narrative pulled me in and I couldn’t help but react to the various scenes that resonated with me. The author presented a well-crafted story with a wonderful, yet quirky, cast of characters and an engaging mystery that had me quickly turning the pages as I had to know how this would all play out. This was a good read and I look forward to the next book in this pleasantly appealing series.”—Dru’s Book Musings

I was given this book by Netgalley for an honest review. I loved the first book by Susan Breen simply titled Maggie Dove, but her newest book, Maggie Dove's Detective Agency is even better. After nearly losing her in life in the first book, but solving the mystery Maggie decides to open a detective agency. Well at first no business, but then Racine Stern, one of the wealthiest residents of the village offers Maggie a thousand dollars toi get rid of her sister Domino who Racine believes is pure evil and out to kill her. Maggie declines and her partners think she's insane for doing so.Maggie does take the case and suddenly all heck breaks loose regarding Domino. Lost of twists and turn. It's a fun read and Susan Breen pulls you right into the story. The cast of characters are kooky, fun and it is just a great read. I can't wait for the next Maggie Dove book.Product details

Maggie Dove Detective Agency A Mystery Maggie Dove Series Book 2 edition by Susan Breen Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews
If you want to read a detective story that is relaxing, makes you chuckle but also makes you wonder what kind of unusual event will come up next, this is the right book for you. It is easy to read, it won't keep you up half the night. The main character Maggie is not someone I can like, she is too wishy-washy for me but she reminded me of a lot of people I have known. So there you are, make your choice.
I really liked how I was unable to solve the mystery throughout the book. I have recommended this book to my family and friends. I chose the five star rating because I really enjoyed this book! I look forward to the next book in the Maggie Dove series!
I truly loved this book. Never have read anything by this author, this was the first, but do not plan on it being the last.
It is full of knowledge of how people really are. How they can love, hate, grieve, be happy, evil and good, never did I feel like I was reading a story that couldn't be real, about real people or events. I very much enjoyed your character, Maggie Dove. She isn't an 'over board, silly, or unbelievable person. I hope you write many more parts of Maggie Dove's life.
I loved your book Susan Been, and hope to read many more books by you.
This is an interesting mystery. Maggie and her partners are trying to get their business going, but do not have any clients. Maggie is quarreling with her partners, the sheriff, and her client through most of the book. She has to deal with witches, rock singers, and crazy women. A boy in her Sunday school class who she likens to her grandson and the son of a rock star are troubled kids who need her help and she often looks after them. The police think all the people who were killed are accidents or suicides, but Maggie disagrees. There are strong characters and the plot is well thought out.
I did (mostly) enjoy the mystery novel about Maggie Dove - but - there were places when the writing style was awkward and a bit stilted. Came off as if the author too was a Sunday School teacher. Some of the descriptions of events and their sequencing were confusing and not as well written as they could have been. And - as a Second Degree Wiccan High Priestess, I was somewhat offended and highly mortified at the description and portrayal of my religion. Susan Breen NEEDS to do a whole lot more research before putting those ideas out in public! She misrepresented both my faith and my religious practices, by making them seem dark, scary, possibly evil. Nothing could be further from the truth!!!! Wicca is absolutely an Earth based religion but by choosing the bits she did-and leaving out MUCH that would have clarified things better, Susan Breen implied that my beliefs are unethical and potentially Satanic. Please do NOT do that again! I repeat - she needs to do more research - and please be a whole lot MORE OBJECTIVE when including or portraying a non-Christian religion, in ANY of her writings!
I wanted to like this series, but Maggie Dove was quietly, surreptitiously, too conservative and close-minded for me. If you are Christian, conservative, and suspicious of anyone who is not, you may enjoy this book and glide right over the off-hand, bigotry that Maggie dispenses about yoga (she directly links it with satan worship), Hinduism (indirectly damned), Wicca (which I know little about, but doubt all practitioners are running around murdering Christians). In talking to a couple of other people who read these, I predict that if you live in a white, Christian, homogeneous small town, you will find these charming and fail to notice the commonplace prejudice against anything "other" in this series. If you live in a heterogeneous community of mixed classes, ethnicity, and religions, they will disturb you as they did me. That the prejudice is cloaked in a cozy makes it creepier.
Enjoyable cozy. I liked the first book, but enjoyed this one more. The protagonist really starts to challenge herself in this book, and it's refreshing. Also, we continue with some of the characters from book 1, as their inter-relationships develop. I look forward to books 3 and 4, etc.!
